‘I love the everyday possibility of new discoveries that archaeology offers; that journey of research, gathering the facts, and piecing together the puzzle of the past. That feeling drove me to start this business and is behind my enthusiasm for our client’s projects’
– Kerry Navin.
Initially, the company focus was on Aboriginal and historical archaeology, but the range of services has long since diversified to include the full range of heritage services from archaeology to historical research, community consultation, cultural values mapping, anthropological research, heritage interpretation and conservation management planning.
‘Knowing that you may be the first to ‘see’ the accrued traces of human interaction in a landscape is a constant reward of this job’
– Kelvin Officer
The business has grown from the spare room office of those early years to become a thriving company operating out of offices in 3 states. While the directors may have lost their youthful, new graduate glow, along with their ponytails, they have not lost sight of the enthusiasm for archaeology and heritage that was the catalyst for forming the company.
Over 2000 projects later our team is still looking for new and innovative ways to address today’s heritage challenges such as new ways to interpret and present heritage places and stories, strategies to address the impacts of climate change on heritage places and methodologies for better integration of natural and cultural heritage and heritage of physical places and their associated intangible values.
Despite our growth, our company prides itself on its supportive and collegiate approach where our extended family includes not only our staff and but also our regular specialists.
One aspect of being such a long establish heritage consultancy is that we develop deep connections with people and communities and over the years sadly, some members of our community have passed. We remember and celebrate with respect their contributions to our community and our development.
