Creating a 3D laser scan of Aboriginal scarred tree at Wilpinjong, NSW.

NOHC recently completed the reporting of a salvage program for three Aboriginal scarred trees at the Wilpinjong Coal Mine, NSW, for Peabody Energy Australia. The project involved the creation of a three dimensional archival recording of each tree scar and the physical recovery of the scarred sections of tree trunk according to a specially designed methodology for the salvage of hollow and fragile trunk portions. The 3D recordings were generated by Wysywig 3D by combining the use of laser scanning technology with high resolution colour photogrammetry.
