NOHC are currently conducting salvage excavations at Cooks Hill, near Broadwater on the North Coast of New South Wales. This forms part of a Pacific Highway cultural heritage management strategy for Roads and Maritime Services. In a recent production by Lois Cook and ABC Open, and aired on the ABC Compass program on 5 July 2015, NOCH archaeologist Rebecca Parkes and geoarchaeologist Anthony Barham discuss some of the finds from the excavation. The program explores the story of Lois Cook’s great grandfather Bubba Jack Cook and reveals a history of indigenous massacres on the NSW North Coast. Here is a video link to the episode:
